Local observations from North England
Although the area in which I live is not particularly rich in amphibians and reptiles, I do spend some time searching for them, usually in the spring or the autumn, and often in the company of herper friend Carl Corbidge. This can involve going out on the first warm rainy nights of the spring to help frogs, toads and newts as they venture across roads to their breeding ponds, or surveying Adders and other reptiles as well as taking plenty of photographs. If you would like to get involved with working with and helping in the conservation of species in your area contact your local Amphibian and reptile group.
